Basic Bereavement Training
Basic 21-hour course for hospice bereavement volunteer visitors, this course teaches how to be a companion without being an expert. It is about being present to the person who is grieving and trusting their process. While it is easy to say, it is not always easy to be present to another person’s pain without feeling you need to fix it. This course is essential for anyone who wants to learn how to companion those who are grieving.
Companioning Complicated and Traumatic Grief
Complicated grief has long been mis-understood and mis-diagnosed. When we understand that our job is not to diagnose or prescribe, but rather to listen and be present, we begin to discover the many layers as they unfold. This 10-hour course looks at what can trigger complicated and/or traumatic grief, what defines complicated/traumatic grief, how do we companion complicated/traumatic grief, and how to recognize the signs that you need to refer someone to a specialist, if that is what is needed.
Companioning Suicide Grief
Suicide grief comes with its own set of challenges. In this 10-hour course we explore those challenges and discover that even in this area of grief, a companion can make a world of difference.
Companioning Womb Twin Survivors
This is perhaps the most disenfranchised of all of the griefs. Little is understood of the pain a womb twin survivor suffers. Many only discover they are a womb twin survivor in middle-age. After discovering the truth of their womb story, they suddenly have symptoms of grief they have never known before. This training is specially designed for those who support womb twin survivors so that they may better understand the unique symptoms and affects of having been a womb twin survivor. Note, book launch is expected in Summer, 2020. To pre-order the book and companion journal, please click here.
